Starting from the Ground Up
from the editor Posted Feb. 25, 2007
If you have found yourself
wondering . . . "Hey, what happened to CreatureScape?" over the last
couple of months, you are not alone. I have gotten quite a few
emails recently and to be honest, I wondered myself. Just what
did happen to CreatureScape.
Our invisible man routine was a result of a
mixed bag of factors but mostly it comes down to the fact that
CreatureScape has many generous contributors, including myself, but only
one editor. The short version of the story is that over-riding
family concerns and professional opportunities and obligations have meant
that the bi-monthly updates became impossible after Halloween. There
is more to that story, of course, but to protect the innocent, so to
speak, I will leave it at that and simply apologize to folks who have been
waiting to see articles and reviews in print--and especially those
awaiting the hard copy, which I think will finally be available in March.
So, what is the new CreatureScape
going to be like?
I think from now on, the new
CreatureScape needs to be focused on serving the garage kit
community (especially you monster fans!) as a free resource,
gradually building a new and permanent archive of build up articles,
film columns, and reviews. I am also abandoning the idea of
"editions" (i.e. bi-monthly updates) in favor of the "Look What's
New" approach.
I will be taking down some of the
older articles at this point, but those that directly promote
sculptors, kit companies, horror hosts and independent businesses
will gradually go back up.
I am also going to turn my attention
to funding the project with kit sales, inexpensive site
sponsorships. Check out sponsorship details as it is a LOT of
permanent exposure for very small investment. However,
COMPANIES MUST BE IN GOOD STANDING AND REPUTE WITH THE GARAGE KIT
COMMUNITY. If you have any history of retailing RECASTS, don't
bother.
Okay, that's it. Feel free to
email me and I will keep people posted on CreatureScape updates at
my yahoo group (sorely neglected, I
know), on my "Pit"
page at Count Gore's Creature Features site, and at
The Clubhouse.
